JANET JACKSON Nasty 1986 A&M 1st Press White Label Promo 12" Single SP-12178 EX

"Nasty" was the second single from Janet Jackson's Control and the record that announced her on her own terms. Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for Flyte Tyme Productions, the track hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1986 and defined a sound — hard funk, snap drums, minimal space — that reshaped pop and R&B. The 12" extends the track to six minutes and adds an instrumental and a cappella on the flip.
This is an original US first pressing — a white label promo copy on A&M Records (SP-12178), issued "Promotion Copy — Not For Sale." The white label carries the Flyte Tyme script logo with musical notes, the production credits for Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and co-producer Janet Jackson, and the reference to the source album Control (SP-5106). The back cover carries the original "LOANED FOR PROMOTION ONLY / Not For Sale / Ownership And All Rights Reserved" promo sticker. Pressed at Electrosound Group Midwest, as identified by the EMW etching in the deadwax and the "B" plant code on both labels.
