Description
Mercury Records SRS 9016, this is a stereo pressing of the classic 3 LP recording of Bach: Suites for Unaccompanied Cello Complete as performed by the legendary Janos Starker. This is a weird pressing - late 60's or 70's? - as there are two label variations within the box set. The first and second LP has the maroon labels with silver print and the oval Mercury logo at the top center. They are etched in the trail off RFR-3 / RFR-1 (LP # 1) and RFR-2 / RFR-2 (LP #2). The third LP has the maroon labels with silver print and the more common "head of Mercury" logo at bottom center. This LP is stamped SR 90447-B- M2 / SR 90447 - B - M3. The flip top box is beautiful NM-, with no rips or tears, just some minor rubbing wear to the lower left corner and a few minor edge creases. All three rcords are beautiful NM and look super clean. I played each one for extended periods and sound quality is excellent throughout. All labels are crisp with no spindle wear. Unfortunately, insert booklet is missing.
