Description

Due to lack of space in the title I wrote "This is the only copy of this for sale on line." That is of course very presumptuous but I did Google it and found none for sale and found none for sale in eBay & Discogs. There are CDs for sale but I was unable to find another LP.

JANOS STARKER

ROAD TO CELLO PLAYING

1967 Virtuoso Records 816V-3296

VINYL: VG played it twice before & after I cleaned it. Looks VG+.Very

listenable, a quite decent VG but not quite VG+.

Hand cleaned. I don't have a record cleaning machine.

SLEEVE/JACKET: VG 1 inch-ish split at the bottom opening tip

Janos Starker recorded “The Road to Cello Playing” in 1967 to demonstrate to proper performance of typical

etudes studied by cellists. .

One of the most important pedagogical recordings ever made, and adds to it performances of virtuoso works for unaccompanied cello.

Janos Starker recorded “The Road to Cello Playing” in 1967 to demonstrate the proper performance of typical etudes studied by cellists.

“The making of this record,” he wrote, “left me more exhilarated, more frustrated, and taught me more humility towards my profession

than any other record I have ever made.”

Although it was issued on a small, short-lived LP label (Virtuoso) and briefly reissued on another (Star), this collection became an important

teaching tool. Cello teachers wore out their LPs making tape copies for their students. And many lovers of the cello, even if they were not

players themselves, bought the recording to hear Starker’s amazing playing of music by Popper and Paganini.

GRADING

NM  Should sound new. Record and cover appear virtually unmarked.

Might be 1 or 2 almost unnoticeable marks. Cover in shrink

VG++ Just a little under near mint will have only a very few surface marks.

Should sound almost NM or not far from it.

VG+   Used but not abused. Will have some visual imperfections.

Any background sound or cover defects should only slightly diminish

your enjoyment unless you are a perfectionist.

VG  Still  enjoyable but there will be quite obvious visual & audible imperfections.

In this condition cover flaws will be noted or pictured.

VG- Same as VG but defects are more pronounced and unless it is a 78 or an old &/or rare record

I personally would find it un-acceptable. Cover flaws will be noted or pictured.

I rarely use ratings under VG-

100% ACCURACY IN GRADING RECORDS IS A JOB FOR SUPERMAN!

At times defects will show up differently on different players.  For instance,

depending on the weight that a tone arm is set at or the quality of the stylus

what is just a pop on one player can sometimes be a skip on another

SO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, BEFORE RATING ME ,

PLEASE CONTACT ME & LET ME TRY & FIX IT

Because although I may not be Superman, I'm certainly not Lex Luther.
