Description
Jay Hawkins before he was known as "Screamin' Jay Hawkins", put out this record in 1955 on Mercury, shown here. This rarely-found record needed a cleaning and got one last week. Note the word "skip" written on both sides however let the record show (heh heh) that after cleaning I played both sides all the way through without skipping, although there is a noisy clunk on the A side about halfway through. Under that, the audio is crisp and clear with light surface noise. The clunk on Side A (and the writing) is why I limit the grade to Good Plus, not the audio.
Note that I have another Screamin' Jay Hawkins record up for auction from the following year 1956, the record and label (Okeh) that actually gave him the "Screamin'" name.
