This is first edition, “RVG” etched, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of JAY JAY JOHNSON’s “The Eminent Jay Johnson, Volume 2” on the "767 Lexington Ave” labels of Blue Note BLP 1506. Musicians include J.J. Johnson, Clifford Brown, Jimmy Heath, John Lewis, Percy Heath, Kenny Clarke.
VINYL plays with consistent low to high level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks, some repeating. Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No skips. Good gloss. Many hairline marks, none feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove “767 Lexington Ave” labels are clean, red ink “MJ,” spindle wear. See photos.
COVER is in good shape. “MJ“ in red ink, top right. Corners worn. Top seam almost entirely taped. Spine taped at both ends, long split. Bottom seam no splits, cracking, tape at opening. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21” back jacket shows wear, marks, stain, tape. “MJ” in red ink. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
