The Jazz Five featuring Vic Ash and Harry Klein, The Five Of Us.
Scarce original 1961 UK pressed Tempo Records mono LP, TAP 32.
Heavy duty first pressing with Decca deep groove and stamped VMGT-1742-1B / VMGT-1742-1B matrix numbers.
Vinyl is somewhat of a mixed bag in grading terms. The LP has not been overplayed and still has very glossy surfaces. There are not lots of fine marks and hairlines. However, there are a few isolated longish scuff marks and hairline scratches which are more immediately visible, and in some instances these affect playback.
The surfaces are underlyingly clean and not continuously noisy or ticky. One of the longer and nastier looking scratches causes soft consecutive ticks near throughout on A1. Although an irritation this is not quite so bad as could be imagined. A2 displays a fractional touch of crackle and two soft consecutive ticks at the beginning, else EX. A3, one isolated mid-level tick as track opens then EX until some very minor crackle heard at the quieter bass solo area near end. B1, four soft consecutive at centre. Else B side has an occasional isolated tick and some minor background crackle, but is by and large pretty clean playing.
Overall, I suppose a G grade is thereabouts.
Labels are clean and undefaced.
Original heavy duty poly-lined Decca type inner sleeve EX.
Fully laminated external sleeve a strong VG plus. Just light wear and creasing, no major issues. No splits or tears, all seams, spine and entry shape in great shape. Small sticker to top right corner of rear panel.
