JAZZ ON THE ROAD (12 ARRANGEMENTS FOR MODERN JAZZ) Lp. Original US pressing on the HOCTOR label (HLPS 4181), from circa mid '70s. Killer Hoctor dance instruction item. A desirable private pressing featuring amazing funk and psychedelic soul themes. We have recorded the B-boy cum Incredible Bongo Band style breaks / hip hop samples and funky groove of GET IT ON / CISCO KID / CORAZON / a superb breakbeat version of the Donald Fagan anthem DO IT AGAIN / a groovy version of the Curtis Mayfield Blaxploitation soundtrack theme, SUPERFLY and lo-fi caribbean disco sounding take on Barry White's infamous LOVE THEME. Sleazy, exploitation film cum biker OST sounding funk on HOT MUD with break-beat intro and fuzz distortions midway and wah wah fuzz / flute and funky loops to GRAND CENTRAL SHUTTLE. Our soundclip opens with the funky loops and samples of MOVING WORLD. Superb playing from an uncredited studio group, especially the funky drummer and percussionist. Track for track, this one totally destroys the Nilo Toledo - Jazz In The Sun release. Super-tough to find now with vinyl and sleeve in top condition, like our copy :) Striking artwork sleeve showing sexy dancer, Robin Hoctor, during her Caesars Palace "Golddigger" jazz routine period. Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with some hairlines. Light surface noises but common for Hoctor releases, in general. Big production sound. The thick card sleeve is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with a touch of ring wear and some ring dirt marks. Light corner / edge wear, in places. Corner ding, front top right at open side. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare Lp!!!
