Description
JAZZ /Early Skiffle - The Red Devils with legendary Hawaiian steel guitarist Benny Nawahi 78 - Tiger Rag/Dinah Columbia 14586-D Recorded February 1931 in New York. Features a wild and energetic novelty/skiffle band with steel guitar, comb , violin, string bass and drums . Condition is VG+ with good shine but some rubbing with not much wear apparent. Plays very well with very low background noise and a few pops BUT there is a stable tape repair to both record edges which does affect play at the very beginning of both sides (see photos). If one places the needle carefully virtually the whole of "Tiger Rag can be heard but the first few bars of "Dinah" are missed. Maximum loss is about 1/8th of an inch and a few seconds of the performance. This is a very rare and valuable record and worth preserving even in this slightly damaged condition.
