Jarvis is married and makes his home in Hamilton, Ohio, with his wife, Rosie, and son, Lucky. When the occasion permits, his wife and son accompany him on his personal appearances. J. D. owns and operates a paint contracting company in Hamilton, which keeps him quite busy, but he attends as many Gospel Music singings as he has time for and almost every weekend he travels hundreds of miles to be able to sing the old time Gospel favorites and his own compositions to the thousands of fans he has created. He has appeared on radio and T. V. in Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

This world seem strange that someone in STUTTGART, GERMANY, would be anxious to acquire a record by a relatively unknown singer from CLAY COUNTY, KENTUCKY. His records have been bought by people in JAPAN, ENGLAND, IRELAND, GERMANY, CANADA and other countries. His records are certainly acclaimed by his fans in the United States also, as the spiraling sales of his albums prove. He has received many writeups and reviews in various publications outside the United States. Below, in part, is a review on some of J. D. ’s records in a quarterly country music publication called •"COUNTRY NEWS AND VIEWS" published in SUFFOIK, ENGLAND. ".........They are done in the true bluegrass slyle, having aline up of rhythm guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, and bass. Here again we must emphasis the important fact this is good bluegrass, top-line bluegrass, not weak imitation such as heard from many top names today....” Another publication here in the states praised J.D.’s work highly and gave him good reviews In their ••"BLUEGRASS UN- LIMITED" magazine. In part: "______the albums by J. D. Jarvis are fine bluegrass, Jarvis'voice belonging to the pre-bluegrass mountain preaching tradition. His singing is loud, husky, and enthusiastic, and the accompanying musicians do a very competent job...." The musicians for this session were carefully chosen as we wanted this album to be one of J.D.'s finest. On 5 string banjo was Noah Crase, who formerly worked as one of Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys, on fiddle we had Paul "Moon” Mullins, currently working as a country D. J., but you have heard his fiddling countless times on records by Don Reno, Charlie Monroe, Charlie Moore and Bill Napier, and he has fiddled on many recordings of the famous Stanley Brothers. Harley Gabbard played dobro and he is considered one of the best dobroists in this part of the country. Rhythm guitar was supplied by Dennis Hensley and J.D. himself, and upright bass was played by Jackie Sanderson. This was an exciting session and many of the selections were done in one or two takes, all twelve sides being cut in one afternoon. J. D. Jarvis can always be counted on to give a good performance either in person or on record. He is a determined man and I’m sure this album will be one of his prouder accomplishments So sit back, turn up the volume, and enjoy some of America’s truly authentic bluegrass music. Proper care of this record will prolong its life and increase your listening enjoyment. Keep it in cover when not in use; avoid handling playing surface. Clean with soft, slightly damp cloth; Set phono for proper needle and turntable speed and check needle frequently for wear. A defective needle can permantly damage your record.
