Here's a super-rare blast from the past in righteous condition!

J.D. and The Hoods, "Rumble" b/w "House of Blue Lights"
45rpm 7" w/ white labels, fold-out 'gimmick' sleeve
Barbarian Records (BARB-8001/8002)
Memphis, Tenn, 1980
Legend has it there were only around 300 of these produced, and J.D. (aka Memphis staple Jim Dickinson) fetched the vinyl himself from the pressing plant in Coldwater, Miss. This almost looks like a file copy -- I played it once, and the original owner who purchased in Memphis back in '80 wasn't sure if he'd ever taken it out of the sleeve!

As such, the vinyl is in phenomenal condition. There's some light sleeve discoloration from aging and a small spot on the front as highlighted in the 4th photo, but it's still in very nice shape with those unique wings looking like they just popped off the die cut.

Here's some info about the pressing: "J.D. is, of course, Jim Dickinson and his “Hoods” includes a cast of Memphis legends like Alex Chilton, Fred Ford, Lee Baker, Richard Rosenbrough, Mike Ladd, Lisa Aldridge, etc. New York Times critic Robert Palmer rated this record one of the top 10 releases for 1980. Sleeve was designed by local artist Tom Foster."

This was play-tested on my setup -- Merrill Polytable, 12" Jelco arm + Hana SL -- and played flawlessly with minimal surface noise and no skipping.
