Wenn das Debüt der Jeff Beck Group im Jahr 1968 "Truth" ist, dann ist "Truth" der Entwurf für Led Zeppelins Debüt und vieles, was wir Hard Rock oder Metal in den 70er Jahren (Van Halen usw.) und darüber hinaus nennen könnten, "Beck-Ola" Das Follow-up von 1969 ist wild, malevelont und chaotisch, wenn auch weniger zugänglich. Sicherlich hat der kalkulierendere Jimmy Page im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes nie etwas so Rohes herausgebracht. Die ausgefallene Qualität überrascht nicht, dass die erstaunliche Besetzung - Beck, Ron Wood, Rod Stewart, Nicky Hopkins und anstelle von Mick Waller - Schlagzeuger Tony Newman - drei Monate nach Fertigstellung aufgelöst wurden.
Beck ist zu einer 54er Stratocaster gewechselt, und "Beck-Ola" schlägt vor, dass Led Zeppelin einen Showdown mit den Stooges um "Funhouse" hat. Wood und Stewart haben das meiste Material geschrieben, und hier ist Stewarts Songwriting-Stimme (besonders sein Humor) zuerst zu sehen (siehe "Spanish Boots")......
