Jeff Beck is truly a worldwide gift to rock music and guitar enthusiasts everywhere. There will never be another Jeff Beck, a guitar genius who has enthralled generations of aspiring musicians and music lovers with the many fine recordings he has made for the past five decades.

Celebrating five decades in the music business, this English native initially captivated millions of kids in the '60s with his first recordings with The Yardbirds. He drove the rockers mad with his famous guitar licks and dynamic presence on the stage. As individual members of the band started solo projects, Jeff Beck created the Jeff Beck Group with his friends Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Nicky Hopkins and Micky Waller, serving up his very first solo smash album Truth.

As the band started to make serious waves across the globe as one of rock's first supergroups, they went back into the studio and hammered out the serious blues rocker Beck-Ola. Kicking things off with the hard-hitting interpretation of the Elvis Presley classic All Shook Up, this revisit takes on a whole new approach with the soulful vocals of Rod Stewart paired with the guitar antics of Jeff Beck. A match made in heaven, these two pioneers of the British blues scene carry on with more masterful workouts on such fare as their original hit Spanish Boots, the stellar piano work of the late Nicky Hopkins on Girl From Mill Valley and their inspiring tour de force Rice Pudding. Another Elvis classic Jailhouse Rock plus their brilliant hit single Plynth (Water Down the Drain) truly made Beck-Ola the revered masterpiece that it still is today.

Jeff Beck, as visionary a guitarist, in his own way, as Jimi Hendrix, certainly heads anyone's list of most exciting rock'n'roll fretboard whizzes ever. Beck made his name as the second of three hall of fame stringbenders for the equally legendary Yardbirds (following in the shoes of Eric Clapton and preceding the pre-Zep Jimmy Page).

Known for his blistering leads and the wild chances he took as one of the first axemen to widely employ feedback during a solo, Beck hit the ground running when he left the Yardbirds in 1967 and would cut a pair of solo albums that didn't miss a beat from the greatness of his previous work.

A year after Truth, Jeff Beck returned with the even thicker sound of Beck-Ola, an album that was so heavy you could use it for a refrigerator door. The original personnel of the Jeff Beck Group was only enhanced by the terrific keyboard work of storied session man supreme, Nicky Hopkins. Like its predecessor, Beck-Ola made you feel like you'd just been run over by an eight-wheeled streetsweeper - but you liked it!
