JEFF SIMMONS - LUCILLE HAS MESSED MY MIND UP. (ON FRANK ZAPPA'S 'STRAIGHT' LABEL).
Full UK Pressing with UK 'E.J Day Group' printed gatefold sleeve!
Pink, Orange, and White STRAIGHT labels with black text. STS 1057. (1970). Matrix: A1/B1.
Fantastically rare as a UK edition, and very sought after by collectors and Zappa/Beefheart fans. Along with maybe a couple of other Straight LP releases (Tim Buckley's Starsailor, and Alice Cooper's Easy Action) this one is one of the hardest to locate in decent condition.
On top of this, the music is great. Psychedelic bluesy guitar playing, with humorous lyrics and interesting chord changes and styles. Frank Zappa appears on two or three of the tracks on Lead Guitar too! Great stuff.
These non-laminated gatefold sleeves are notorious for wear, and this one is no exception... but it's a better sleeve than the only two other copies I've seen in 20 years of collecting. It has a very few very careful touch ups along the spine - barely noticeable. The sleeve has no bends, and the inside gatefold is very clean. It has the usual edge wear associated with these.

CONDITION and GRADING:
Sleeve grades VG+/Ex-, while the glossy black vinyl and clean Straight labels grades Ex+.
This sleeve is cleaner than most I've seen, and worth keeping until a 'minty' copy comes along (if you could ever find one!). Back of sleeve shows moderate ringwear.
Vinyl plays really well with some very, very minor crackling between tracks. No skips or jumps. Visually the vinyl is very glossy and has occasional feint hairline marks which do not sound.
Very hard to get in any reasonable condition, so this is as about as good as it gets without paying £100 or more...

Unlike some other sellers, I have no need to use the words MEGA, ULTRA, or c**p on about how many of these LPs got trashed at parties. I try to avoid exhaustive usage of exclamation marks in my honest descriptions and I also avoid the over use of CAPITAL letters in my descriptions (unless it is relevant to the description) and I do not wish to shout.
