By the time of Bark, personnel changes had gutted much of the original version of Jefferson Airplane, especially with the departure of Marty Balin. Paul Kantner and Grace Slick remained, but their compositions were growing increasingly ill-focused, and Jorma Kaukonen and new drummer Joey Covington were ill-equipped to pick up the songwriting slack. The result was an album that bore hallmarks of the classic Airplane sound, but lacked any classic Airplane songs. That said, the record isn't as bad as many reviewers have made it out to be. It's just mediocre, with little that sticks in the memory, despite occasional nice moments in cuts like Covington's "Pretty as You Feel" and Kaukonen's delicate "Third Week in the Chelsea."

If the Jefferson Airplane intended to warn the fans about the evils of consumerism in the modern America by placing one of their final albums in a plain brown shopping bag, their message was lost on the...um, consumers. The album sold millions of copies and spent inordinate number of the weeks on Billboard top-10 chart.  This, original version, with the plain brown shopping bag was subsequently abandoned and never reprinted. All subsequent versions were issued in a regular "barracuda" cover. A must for any serious Jefferson Airplane collector or afficionado. And, oh…lest we forget: The album  apparently includes original insert, which only a few copies seem to have preserved intact.

(a)         THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them.

(b)         The album is believed to include the original insert , SUCH AS THE ONE SHOWN BELOW, FROM OUR PREVIOUS AUCTION still intact.

(c)         The record is  apparently pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                          THE COVER

COVER IS NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP  (A SMALL PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has visible wrinkles (air bubbles in the external, brown bag); this will NOT affect the inner jacket.

-       Cover has a small cutout saw-mark (an indent about 3-4 mm long ) on one of its seams.

-       Cover has two tiny, almost invisible, pinholes (or staple holes) in one corner. These tiny holes are NOT cutout holes.
