“JEFFERSON AIRPLANE TAKES OFF”
Superb original 1966 Stereo vinyl LP on the RCA Victor Records Dynagroove label (LPM-3584). This is the CENSORED version without the song, “Runnin' ‘Round This World.” This pressing might be the SECOND STATE version with a revised cover slick on the back to conceal the deleted song, “Runnin' ‘Round This World.” I can see the code number of the original pressing beneath the alleged replacement slick (See photo scan); but I do not have a strong back light to clearly identify other evidence.
Often unjustly overlooked, this debut album by the Jefferson Airplane yet remains an ignition spark to the onset of psychedelia. The album features the underrated lead vocals of Signe Toly Anderson who left the band to start a family, opening the door to the commanding presence and beauteous fog-horn powered voice of Grace Slick. Interesting fact: Signe Toly Anderson and co-founder Paul Kantner both died on the dame day!!!
