Description
This is a fine 1966 U.S. pressing copy of the debut LP by the Jefferson Airplane. One of the primary groups associated with the so-called "San Francisco sound," the Airplane at the beginning was a fine folk- and blues-rock group with proto-psychedelic leanings on songs like "Blues from an Airplane," "Let Me in," and a cover of "Tobacco Road." The group's sound would gel on their next LP, the epochal Surrealistic Pillow, when the Great Society's Grace Slick replaced original vocalist Signe Anderson. The debut was released in three different versions in 1966, the first with the song "Runnin' 'Round This World" (which had been the b-side to their debut single, "It's No Secret"), and both the first and second with versions of two other songs that had lines deemed risque, which were subsequently edited out. This copy is from the more common third version, which lacks the former song and has edited versions of the latter two songs. The jacket has writing in pen on the back cover, and light ring and seam wear -- EX(+). The disc has some fingerprints and light scraping, scuffing, and loss of glossiness, and plays with steady light surface noise audible mostly between tracks (EX-). The record comes with the original label inner sleeve.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
