This DCC Analogue LP was a landmark release for the Starship in the summer of 1975. “Red Octopus” was a Billboard Charting Number One and features the classic rock staples - Miracles - Play On Love and many others. Mastered from the Original Stereo Master Tapes.

When Jefferson Airplane morphed successfully into Jefferson Starship in the mid-seventies, their musicianship, and recorded output was enthusiastically received and was a very important career move in the continuing story of these Bay Area superstars.

Red Octopus surely helped award them fame even further as this amazing Jefferson Starship LP went to number one and soon became one of the many platinum plus ventures for this much loved and respected band. Their new formula worked tremendously as this watershed release featured a plethora of chart topping hits like Miracles, Play On Love, Fast Buck Freddie, and There Will Be Love.

The band was rich with rock and roll history, consisting of Airplane mainstays Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Marty Balin, plus later Airplane alumnus David Freiberg (Quicksilver), Papa John Creach, and Johnny Barbata (CSN+Y, Turtles), as well as new additions Craig Chaquico and Pete Sears. Jefferson Starship truly delivered the goods with Red Octopus as this album went on to quickly become a classic rock masterpiece!

SURREALISTIC PILLOW is one of the finest examples of psychedelic rock releases of all time. Grace Slick, Marty Balin, Paul Kanter, Jorma Kaukonen, and Jack Casady, with a little help from Jerry Garcia, never made a more popular record. Songs like “White Rabbit” and “Somebody To Love” are still FM staples today.

When she joined the Jefferson Airplane in 1966 as replacement for original vocalist Signe Anderson, Grace Slick brought with her two songs she'd performed in her previous band, the Great Society: "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit."

Featured on this classic 1967 album, they became Top 10 hits, and helped establish both the San Francisco and the emerging counterculture they celebrated. With Jorma Kaukonen's sinewy guitar, Jack Casady's probing bass, and Spencer Dryden's inventive drumming swirling around Slick and co-vocalists Marty Balin and Paul Kantner on songs like "She Has Funny Cars" and "3/5 of a Mile in 10 Seconds," Surrealistic Pillow virtually defined the communal spirit of Summer of Love hippiedom.
