Great selection of Audiophile rarites from us this week!
Arthur Salvatore of High End Audio lists this in his Divinity (i.e the short list of very finest vinyl recordings ever made) JEFTA: Oratorium by Italian Baroque composer Carissimi (which takes up the whole 1st side), plus works by Rameau, Mendelssohn, Ives and Monteverdi. Original Proprius Audiophile gatefold lp Prop 7840. Truly superb sound to this from the crystalline voices to the super low bass in the organ parts and perfectly balanced Harpsichord, a real showpiece for full range speakers. Heard through my own system with valves and floorstanders, this was an exceptional auditory experience, not bettered by any vocal harmony recording I had previously heard, no wonder this sells for three figures when found. Looks very low plays. The review said:
"Swedish label Proprius has produced a number of well-known LPs, but this is one of, if not, their finest. It is a group of popular choral works, with soloists and an organ and harpsichord.This record is indispensable for those audiophile/music-lovers who want a natural, uncompressed and revealing recording of "full-toned" human voices in a large acoustical space. There was a reissue of this LP by ATR that is also superb, but not quite as good as the original Proprius. Both LPs are quite rare."
This record is an unmarked visually Near Mint, in a Near Mint sleeve, record is not warped, labels are clean.
