MINT - DELICIOUS FIRST SLICE OF PETE WINGFIELD'S BAND ON BLUE HORIZON. Sleeve notes: "I can tell you easily enough what we're NOT. We're not a 'British blues band' quote unquote; we're notg a rave-up soul outfit, we don't play jazz-rock. As to what we are - well, it's more difficult. Our chief musical inspiration is the Blues - in the widest sense of the word. If you were stuck for a label for 'First Slice', you might call it 1970's R&B. It's a mixture of Bobby Bland, Percy Mayfield revivals and the like with various originals by the group. Recording it was exciting and satisfying for us; hopefully some of that 'good feeling' comes through in the grooves. Just listen - with an open mind; I believe it might make you feel good too.
