Description
This is a fine U.S. white label promo copy of the debut LP by star sideman/session guitarist Jesse Davis, released in 1970. Originally from Oklahoma, Davis first made a name for himself as part of Conway Twitty's backing band before moving to LA, where he went on to play with the likes of John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Taj Mahal, Rod Stewart, and bluesmen B.B. King and Albert King. His debut LP is in a West Coast rock vein, and combines five original compositions with covers of "Tulsa County" (also covered by the Byrds), "Rock and Roll Gypsies" (originally covered by country/pop/rock group Hearts and Flowers), and Van Morrison's "Crazy Love." The textured jacket has corner wear, and light ring wear and staining on the back cover, and is otherwise close to pristine -- EX(+). There is a promo sticker on the front cover. The disc is clean with some light scraping and scuffing, and plays with some light surface noise and occasional light crackling -- EX(-).
I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
