Description
MEGA RARE 1972 Original UK 1st Pressing 'Thick as a Brick' by Jethro Tull on the Mega Rare 1st Press Green Island/Chrysalis 1st Press labels with Residual Island Logo (outlined 'i' at 12 o'clock) and 1st press Porky//Pecko Matrix Etchings!!! In Impossible **Nr Mint** Vinyl Condition!!! Complete with 1st Press E.J. Day Foldout Newspaper Sleeve, Complete With All Pages Intact!! A Very Rare 1st Pressing Impossible to Find As a UK First Press in Near Mint Vinyl Condition!!!!
You are bidding on one of the all time classic Progressive LP's - and almost impossible to find nowadays in its true UK TRUE 1st press format (and especially in this condition!!!) The awesome 'Thick As A Brick' by Jethro Tull!! What makes this particular copy so very rare is that it is the genuine 1972 UK 1st Ever UK Pressing, with the 'Outlined i' at 12 o'clock on the green labels!!! What's more it is pressed on ultra heavy vinyl, straight from the master, with original 1st press Porky//Pecko matrix etchings!!! It is common to see later pressings being passed off as 1st's, but if they do not have the 'i' or the etchings they are later pressings!!! Believe me, as a UK 1st pressing, this is a very sought-after record today. What's more, this record is in stunning vinyl Condition!!! This record only had an incredible short press run on these 1st Island logo labels before the logo was removed and they were completely credited solely to Chrysalis Records. Genuine UK 1st pressings with residual Island Logo's are very, very difficult to find!!! Not only that, but this comes complete with its correct 1st press E. J. Day foldout newspaper sleeve which has all the pages intact and no real issues other than light aging.
It has the textured soft carded outer whilst still retaining the fragile authentic thinner 'newspaper' pages. True UK 1st pressings of this record HARDLY EVER turn up today, and when they do it is NEVER in Nr Mint vinyl condition condition so don't miss out on this one!!! This will probably be your only chance to own a fully complete UK Near Mint 1st press Jethro Tull collection - don't miss this seriously rare opportunity!!! Good Luck!

Usually only found on later green labels (with no island logo) or the repress blue/white Chrysalis labeIs, this record is almost impossible to find on the original UK 1st press Green Chrysalis labels with residual Island logo's anymore. if you have never heard this record, it will blow you away!!! An absolutely essential (and very rare) progressive record to own!!! Don't miss this one as this LP rarely turns up any more.
The all-important 1st press centre labels are superb with NO Peeling, NO Lifting, NO Grubbyness and NO unwanted writing/scribbles of any kind. There are just some very light spindle lines present and that is it.
The quality thick & chunky 1st press vinyl (it is very heavy) looks an sounds absolutely stunning, remember - this is the earliest 1st press, straight from the master, it therefore sounds much louder and defined than all the weaker later re-pressings. I cannot emphasise how very difficult it is to find 1st press copies of this LP that have not been played to death, on the rare occasions that the do turn up they are full of nasty scratches and gouges. This one is NOT!!! It looks absolutely stunning with a deep 'just pressed' shine with NO hairlines, NO scuffs/scratches, NO Bag-rash - Nothing!!! There are just light paperlines, simply caused by removing the disc from its inner sleeve. You will not find a more better UK 1st pressing of this record!!! It will grace any *Near Mint* progressive collection!!!
The original fold out 'newspaper' 1st press E.J. Day gatefold sleeve, is in great condition with no major faults. Of course, it goes without saying that this is also the earliest sleeve with the textured soft carded outer whilst still retaining the fragile authentic thinner paper 'newspaper' pages. Needless to say, on the rare occasions these turn up today they are completely trashed, with rips the pages etc. The sleeve crisp and tidy and and retains all of its whiteness with NONE of the common yellowing! There is a patch of wear toward the top with a very light stain on the front ant reverse side in the top middle section. The sleeve has NO unwanted writing/scribbles etc! There is perhaps some very light signs of age but nothing significant. It is a fine example of this rare and notoriously fragile sleeve and easily grades as Excellent. Of course, this record comes with its correct and original 'Made In England' and 'Patents' text inner sleeve, which is also in superb condition!!!
Forget the later inferior re-pressings, this is the only way you should listen to this record!!! In this kind of condition you are not only bidding on an amazing record, but you are making a true investment - Please see my other auctions as I am are also currently listing more Jethro Tull rarities along with many more UK Prog/Rock/Psych/Folk & Rock 1st Pressings!!!!

Postage ... Hazey Jane has absolutely NO hidden surcharges; the price you win is the price you pay, just add the relevant postage, it's as simple as that! We always combine postage so if you win more than 1 auction you save money on postage costs! We will only ship to non-UK countries via Airmail - we do not use surface mail, it is way too slow and thus increases the risk of records being damaged during transit.
A little note about insurance - Please read carefully... If the value of your record(s) is over £30, your invoice will include an insured option. Being the responsible adults you are, it is entirely up to you to take this up - we strongly advise you to do this but will not hassle you about it. You either add the required insurance or you don't. If you do add the required insurance and your record is lost/damaged, you will get a refund. If you don't add the required insurance and your record is lost/damaged, you will not get a refund. Can we be any clearer? I think not.
Eastern European Countries: We welcome bidders from Eastern Europe, however UK post will now only send to these countries via signed for delivery. Therefore you must pay at the European insured rate (see below) for all records. This applies to all the following countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech, Estonia, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine,& Yugoslavia

Refunds & Feedback ... Please read this carefully ... We try to give you the best quality examples of rare records available. However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards. If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. This will very rarely, if ever, happen. We will not be impressed with buyers disputing our gradings without even bothering to check the UK record collector grading standards chart first - you have been warned ...
Buyers who continually Haggle, Whine and Moan to try to decrease the price they won their auctions for will be blocked from bidding on future auctions and can toodle off down to HMV or Virgin where they can harass the counter staff there.
We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed. If payment is then not received within 7 days Negative feedback WILL be left and the buyer WILL be given a strike by eBay. Thanks for reading.
