'Another from my personal collection! Collected over a period of 35 years I have accumilated more than 50,000 albums alone mainly UK pressings! This original has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years!! ,, With the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover the way that I have always stored my vinyls!!!!Amaizingly the cover has preserved in superbe condition (very scarce to find like this) The early thick and chunky slab of vinyl has just a couple of minor surface scuffs only  but it is obvious that this has been barely played at all both visualy and audibly in my opinion without any loud clicks or pops the audio sounds so awesome and it is so rare to find like this beleive me. The audio was very near perfect throughout for the most part on my systems ! Please note only the earliest of this pressing had no mother stampers!, and the vinyl is very very thick and substantial in weight! 169 grams!! This type of vinyl is only found on the earliest and very limited amount of original pressings!!!  !  

Stand Up is the second album by Jethro Tull. Prior to this album, the band's original guitarist Mick Abrahams had left the band due to musical differences with Ian Anderson. Abrahams wanted to stay with the blues-rock sound of This Was, while Anderson wished to branch out into other musical forms!!!!.

Stand Up represents the first album project on which Anderson was in full control of the music and lyrics. The album goes in a different direction from his earlier work, revealing influences from Celtic music, folk and classical music. The instrumental "Bourée" (one of Jethro Tull's better-known songs) is a re-working of "Bourrée in E minor" by J.S.Bach!!.

The album reached #1 on the British charts. The gatefold album cover, in a woodcut style designed by artist James Grashow, originally opened up similar to a child's pop-up book, so that a cut-out of the band's personnel stood up !!!!!

Distinguishing features for these early UK pressings unique are... the vinyl is the thickest and heaviest you will ever find, in fact the vinyl acually weighs 169 grams!!! Only the earliest (limited amount have (no) mother stampers at 3 & 9 oclock to the matrix The labels are textured type (later press feature smooth)

Please note! This is the earliest, first label variation  with the ''eye'' logo with textured  labels 

 it is important to note that only the earliest pressings were released with the mega thick and chunky 160 gram vinyl and all have textured labels (later press were smooth labels)!

The Vinyl

This is the MEGA heavier and thick type of vinyl )weighs 160 grams)! only found on earliest pressings later are much more flimsier and less robust!!!! Also from my experience the thick vinyls produce the best audio quality!!!!!

On initial inspection the vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable!! The vinyl retains its original glossy sheen from new and on initial inspection looks awesome, it is quite obvious to me visualy and audible that this vinyl has barely been played)!!!!!   looks AWESOME\superbe for an unbelievable 38 years old!!! Only in very strong light can very very very few, perhapes two or three only i can just see on side 2, light surface marks\ scuffs be seen!  After playing this vinyl track for track at very loud volume on a top system, these have very little if (no) effect what so ever that I heard on the truly awesome audio !!!!! This plays through cristal clear and vibrant throughout with (no) signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed This plays awesome, without any loud clicks or pops at all that i could hear and in my opinion absolutely at the very top! on all frequencies! Please note! Please allow for the odd light  isolated  static crackle\tick that may be heard in between some tracks or during some very quiet places only, in fact i could only notice this on side two only on one perhapes two quiet places\tracks, but only heard at very loud volume.  This is by far the most vibrant and best audio to find of this pressing real rich deep basey feel only found like this on the earliest pressings! absolutely superbe!!

Audio grading played at (very) loud volume is at least excellent to excellent plus ! Sounds like this vinyl has barely been played in my opinion!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! This has been played at very loud volume prior to listing on a top system! I have given my honest opinion as i hear it! I would class myself as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!  Please allow for very (very) light static crackle\tick perhapes during isolate quiet places only (not consistant through out the audio Please remember that this is a genuine 39 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 39 year old system!!!!I must emphisise that I heard (no) major problems !!!!!  certainly (no) jumps or skips or any loud clicks or pops (((unbeleivable)))!!  I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have solds of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!! I would rate this audio top!!! very vibrant\awesome!!!  The audio will be hard to surpass for an original 39 year old thick chunky slab of vinyl!! TOP TOP AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES IN MY OPINION THIS AT LEAST IS ONE OF THETHE MOST VIBRANT THAT I HAVE HEARD!!!!!!

The Labels

These are the original 'PINK ISLAND LABELS WITH THE ORANGE LOGO (TEXTURED)LABELS'' (ONLY 1ST PRESS)  (UK PRESSING) in awesome condition  VERY VERY limited amount of spidering can be seen only when angled in light!!This certainly sounds awesome in my opinion this has not been over played, in fact barely played!!!!!

This is the original  1ST PRESS ISLAND POP UP GATEFOLD COVER !  Also in awesome condition for an original 39 years old !!!!Amaizingly ,, (NO) real creasings that i can see worth to mention !(see photos)The writing can be seen clearly at the spine,  any rubbing worth to mention is only noticable if really looked for, very minor, the rear is exceptionaly clean (often seen very grubby) ther is some light stain marks at the rear botton edge of the cover again only noticable if looked for   (very very rare for 39 years old like this),!  The inside of the gatefold is perfect!!!This is srong and straight! THIS COVER MUST BE AT LEAST EXCELLENT IN MY OPINION (Try to find better)!!!
