 This original has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years, with the vinyl separated from the sleeve and cover the way that I have always stored my vinyls.    This is an original UK pressing the third Island label variation with the large white 'I' logo.




  Stand Up is the second album by Jethro Tull. Prior to this album, the band's original guitarist Mick Abrahams had left the band due to musical differences with Ian Anderson. Abrahams wanted to stay with the blues-rock sound of This Was, while Anderson wished to branch out into other musical forms.










Stand Up represents the first album project on which Anderson was in full control of the music and lyrics. The album goes in a different direction from his earlier work, revealing influences from Celtic music, folk and classical music. The instrumental "Bourée" (one of Jethro Tull's better-known songs) is a re-working of "Bourrée in E minor" by J.S.Bach. 







The album reached #1 on the British charts. The gatefold album cover, in a woodcut style designed by artist James Grashow, originally opened up similar to a child's pop-up book, so that a cut-out of the band's personnel stood up.

The Vinyl

This is the MEGA heavier and thick type of vinyl only found on earliest pressings later are much more flimsy and less robust. Also from my experience the thick vinyls produce the best audio quality.
On initial inspection the vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable. The vinyl retains its original glossy sheen from new and on initial inspection looks superb  for an unbelievable 45 years old. Only in very strong light can very very very light surface sleeve removal scuffs be be seen. Amazingly I can only see two or three. After playing this vinyl track for track these have very little if (no) effect what so ever that I heard on the truly awesome audio.  This plays through crystal clear and vibrant throughout with no signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed This plays as good as it gets in my opinion absolutely at the very top on all frequencies. I heard no problems and rate the audio absolutely superb.  Very Near Mint  through out.

Please note I always add this disclaimer This has been played at very loud volume prior to listing on a top system! I have given my honest opinion as i hear it. I would class myself as highly critical Please allow for very (very) light static crackle (not consistent through out the audio Please remember that this is a genuine 45 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on an old system. I must emphasise that I heard (no) problems at all. I heard (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) jumps or skips at all. I would class myself as highly critical. I would rate this audio top very vibrant\awesome  The audio will be hard to surpass for an original 45 year old vinyl. TOP TOP AUDIO ON ALL FREQUENCIES IN MY OPINION THIS PLAYED PERFECT AS GOOD AS IT GETS (NEAR MINT AUDIO THROUGH OUT EVEN BETWEEN TRACKS VERY QUIET.

The Labels

These are the original 'PINK ISLAND TEXTURED LABELS' With the original PINK 'I' LOGO (ONLY EARLY PRESSINGS) in awesome condition  VERY VERY limited amount of spidering can be seen only when angled in light. This sounds barely ever played. 

The record Sleeve

This is the light blue Island sleeve has light creases staining with age no splits or tears superb example. This vinyl is stored seperately from the sleeve and cover. 

The cover

This is the original  1ST PRESS ISLAND POP UP GATEFOLD COVER  Also in awesome condition for an original 45 years old. Amazingly NO creasings worth to mention very clean cover minor fading marks at the rear barely noticable and very small sticker removal scuff at the front barely noticeable unless looked for. AN EXCEPTIONAL COVER (see photos)Nice and square spine, The writing can be seen clearly barely any storageware unless you really look for, slight rubbing at the edges that's all. The inside of the gatefold is superb 
EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS!THIS COVER MUST BE AT LEAST EXCELLENT IF NOT BETTER.

THIS ALBUM WILL BE SENT IN A  LARGE BOX WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS THE ALBUM IS ALWAYS PUT IS A POLY  SLEEVE AND ENCASED IN THE BOX WITH PLENTY OF BUBBLEWRAP FOR ADDED  PROTECTION (SEE PHOTOS)
