THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE. ARE YOU EXPERIENCED. Polydor LPHM 84706. MONO. 1967. Original 1st issue. Very rare South African pressing housed in the original laminated flip back sleeve with original "D-shaped" plastic inner bag.
South Africa in 1967 was in the depths of Apartheid, so the record company's decision to release an album by a black artist in that part of the world must have been controversial. You'll notice that there aren't any photographs on the cover, possibly for that reason. It's fascinating to wonder how few of these were pressed, who bought them, and how many have survived? I can only find one reference to this album and it is registered on the very excellent Popsike.com website as being sold on eBay in 2005.
The laminated flip back sleeve is in very good overall condition and has no graffiti, stickers, split seams or repairs, but some "ring-wear" is evident. The original "D-shaped" liner bag is in excellent condition with no splits or tears. The vinyl is very bright and shiny, and shows very little sign of overplaying or wear. It is in overall excellent- condition with just one or two surface marks on the A side, and none on the B side. There is the usual very light marbling effect on the vinyl surfaces from being stored in this type of liner bag for years, but this does not affect the playing. There are a few very light spindle marks around the centre holes, otherwise the labels are near mint.
The track listing is identical to the 1967 original 11 track U.K. release ..... A Side : Foxy Lady, Manic Depression, Red House, Can You See Me, Love Or Confusion, I Don't Live Today. B Side : May This Be Love, Fire, 3rd Stone From The Sun, Remember, Are You Experienced.
This is an opportunity for a serious Hendrix collector to add to their collection and own what must be one of the scarcest albums to ever become available on the open market.
