JIMI HENDRIX Are You Experienced (2008 exclusive 17-track 2-LP set pressed on 180gram VIRGIN VINYL, the barnstorming debut longplayer from Jimi & the Experience, originally released in 1967, reissued as part of the 'Back To Black 60th Anniversary' series, combining the UK & US tracklistings plus 3 bonus recordings taken from single B-sides, presented in gatefold sleeve with 8-page booklet.
Named by VH1 in 2001 as the fifth greatest album of all time, it certainly vies for poll position as one of the greatest debut’s in rock history. Recorded in London and originally released in 1967 on the fledging Track Records label (then home to The Who), ‘Are You Experienced’ was produced by ex-Animals bassist Chas Chandler, who had brought Jimi to England after seeing him perform at the Café Wha? in New York’s Greenwich Village. A fiery blend of blues, psychedelia, pop and hard rock, the record features the classics ‘Foxy Lady’, ‘Manic Depression’, the incendiary ‘Fire’ as well as the album’s title track. It was described by Q magazine as “the complete showcase for massive, never-matched earthquaking guitar sounds”.
