This is a UK 1st press of ‘Axis Bold As Love' by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. This rare press has the A1/B1 earliest matrix numbers and the matt, flat Track labels. The record is complete with the original inner sleeve and the earliest laminated flipback Ernest J Day gatefold sleeve. The LP is also complete with the rare original poster insert.
The record is in Good condition. The vinyl has a superb gloss, there is however some groove wear at the start of Spanish Castle Magic and a few very light marks. The labels are superb, with bold heavy black, sharp silver text and only the very slightest spindle wear.
The record sits completely flat on the turntable and when played the sound is rich, vibrant and mainly very clear. There is some noise and distortion on the groove damage that lasts for a few seconds, this clears and the sound is bold and vibrant again. The rest of the vinyl plays extemely well throughout - light noise but still the rich, original heavy 60's sound.
The rare poster is completely clean and bright. There are a couple of light creases but the edges are firm, the fold is solid and the text is crisp and bright.
The laminated gatefold Ernest J Day sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. The laminate has a sensational mirrored shine. The colours are vivid and the black is exceptionally bold. There is a little corner wear. The inside is extremely clean and bright and the images are sharp. The flipbacks are sealed and complete. The edges are still firm and the whole sleeve is solid.
