Description

Famous sleeve showing puppet versions of Jimi himself with Brian Jones, John Peel and Bob Dylan.  Printed by MacNeill, this album was a poor seller as Jimi's Band of Gypsies group took a lot of flak compared to the more revered Jimi Hendrix Experience.  The album was initially a poor seller and it is said that the puppet cover was withdrawn and changed to a gatefold of Jimi live on stage to increase sales.  I cannot remember certain things BUT I think it may have been withdrawn for more sinister reasons!  Anyway, personally I love the imagery.

It's hard to distinguish certain letters/numbers on the matrix but it is very clear that this is the very first issue/pressing with the earliest stampers.

The vinyl has a really nice clean sheen on both sides- 2 marks very light and inaudible - plays a really good clean sound, especially for a live show where many at the time sounded a bit muddy.

The sleeve itself is near perfect - two tiny creases- really top example!

The inner poly lined white bag has a little piece missing but is fine.

Overall grades at EX/EX+ (R/C) and a top example of this 1st issue with the interesting cover!
