THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE
“ELECTRIC JIMI HENDRIX”
1 of only 2,000 copies produced.
LOW START AND NO RESERVE!
Distributed only to members of the Polydor Record Club (UK) in 1968 and released prior to the forthcoming double album, Electric Ladyland that same year.
The story goes that Jimi wasn’t happy with this release and asked it to be pulled, which it subsequently was.
Some of the song titles on the cover of this album have been mistakenly credited and will have changed when they were eventually released on “Electric Ladyland”, such as Voodoo Chile, which was to become Voodoo Chile (Slight Return), Come On, which was to become Come On (Part One), The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp, which was to become Burning Of The Midnight Lamp.
This album pre dates the release of Electric Ladyland and is a piece of serious rock music history!
Released on the Track Record Label, number 2856 002 in 1968 in Stereo.
Matrix numbers;
Side 1: 2856002 1 Y//2 420 111
Side 2: 2856002 2 YA//1 168
(Side 2 also has the same matrix number as the Electric Ladyland version, 613008)
Side 1: Still Raining, Still Dreaming – House Burning Down – All Along The Watchtower – Voodoo Chile
Side 2: Little Miss Strange – Long Hot Summer Night – Come On – Gipsy Eyes – The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp
Every album is given a thorough visual inspection and play graded using the Record Collectors Grading System.
The front cover and at least one label are photographed at an angle to show any ring or corner wear or spindle marks and I am always happy to answer any questions or provide further information or photographs. Any faults are always listed!
Description:
Cover: Printed by Polydor records and not EJ Day of London, which were to become the printers for Electric Ladyland. Plain on the front and rear. Not in the greatest condition, but bearing in mind the rarity of this album and the very few that ever come up for auction, this is still worth a future investment as the guide price for this in mint condition is £650, excellent condition £350 and even in good condition is still worth £200 and is rising!
Front: There is ring wear and some creases and a couple of small tears on the opening edge, plus corner scuffs and rubbing along the edges of the cover. No writing or stickers or any other marks. The majority of the front is still in excellent condition. It is only fair and honest to point out the defects.
Overall in good to very good condition.
Rear: Ring wear and corner scuffs. No writing, stickers or any other marks. The majority of the rear is still in excellent condition. It is only fair and honest to point out the defects.
Overall in very good condition.
Opening edges: Slightly feathered in places.
Spine: Has flattened a little, but most of the text is still sharp and readable. Some areas of scuffing.
Sleeve: Original Polyliner, ‘plastic bags can be dangerous’ warning, mellowed and creased with age.
Labels: The labels are still nice and clean with a few spindle marks detected. The matt background makes the silver Track label and song titles really stand out, much better and sharper than in the photo's.
Overall in excellent condition.
Vinyl: Lovely and glossy with a few paper marks and some small scuffs. Plays through with great clarity.
Overall in excellent condition.

Record Collector Grading Criteria:
Mint:
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be Mint.
Excellent:
The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
Very Good:
The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good:
The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
