From my cherished Hendrix collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional example of the third studio album by THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE titled “ELECTRIC LADYLAND”, Catalogue Number 613008/9. This is an ORIGINAL 1968 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the TRACK RECORD LABEL, with a lovely fully laminated E. J. DAY gatefold sleeve which has the track-listing in white text on the inside. [The record labels have the inverted catalogue numbers at the 9 o’ clock position. The matrix numbers are the earliest corrected A//1, B//1, A//1, B//1].
The sleeve is in between VG and EX condition with just light wear and a few minor creases. The white track-listing text inside the opening gatefold actually has blue sections on some of the letters (see close-up photo). Overall it’s a very presentable example of this iconic “naked ladies” sleeve.
The classic Track records are nice solid pressings with square-cut rim edges. Both retain a deep mirror-like shine and sit perfectly flat on the turntable. Visually Sides A, D and B are in EX condition. I would grade Side C as VG+ as there are a few light sleeve-removal type hairlines visible on this side. The matt black Track labels are like new with only a few short spindle traces near the centres. There is virtually no wear to either spindle hole. Audio playback is MINT- throughout. There is no deterioration in sound quality and barely any unwanted noise at all. With the exception of a few soft background tics (audible through the left channel only) which are noticeable during a very quiet section of Track 3 on Side C, I would say that playback is close to perfection. The stereo “soundscape” mix really does provide a truly incredible audiophile listening experience! The sound quality is nothing short of sensational. It’s no wonder that these Track 1st pressings are so highly sought after.
The white poly-lined inner sleeves are in very good condition with no splits or tears. One is definitely original with square-cut opening edges, but I suspect that the other has been changed for a slightly later Polydor one at some time or another.
Overall this is a superb example of Hendrix’s most iconic album which plays essentially as new.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega P5 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound (from sleeve removal or possibly superficial stylus wear). There will be barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
