Description
PLEASE NOTE: This double album's packed weight is OVER 500g , and therefore the P&P costs vary depending on the postcode/state within Australia, or the overseas destination, of the winning bidder (these variations are Australia Post's, not mine - the packing component remains the same in each case). Specific costs for both Australian and International bidders are clearly shown in the POST & PACKING section below. To avoid any confusion after the event, please check YOUR individual P&P costs BEFORE bidding. Thanks.
OZ PRESSING ON THE (RED) POLYDOR LABEL (2679 029). STEREO. NUDE GATEFOLD SLEEVE.
WITH HIS THIRD ALBUM, JIMI TOOK PSYCHEDELIC EXPERIMENTATION AS FAR AS IT COULD GO WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE ORIGINAL 'EXPERIENCE' TRIO. IT ALSO MEANT PUSHING THE STUDIO TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME TO BREAKING POINT. THE BAND'S PLAYING (AND PARTICULARLY JIMI'S) IS FREER, AND PERHAPS MORE SPONTANEOUS, WITHOUT LOSING THE DISCIPLINE NEEDED TO DELIVER TRULY MAGICAL PERFORMANCES. HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS MAGNIFICENTLY SPRAWLING SET ARE 'GIPSY EYES', 'ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER', 'VOODOO CHILE', '1983 (A MERMAN I SHOULD TURN TO BE)', 'CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC', 'COME ON', 'RAINY DAY, DREAM AWAY', 'LONG HOT SUMMER NIGHT', 'BURNING OF THE MIDNIGHT LAMP', AND 'ELECTRIC LADYLAND'. ESSENTIAL!
I'M NO EXPERT ON HENDRIX PRESSINGS, AND SINCE I ONLY CAME INTO POSSESSION OF THIS ALBUM A FEW YEAR'S AGO, I CAN MAKE NO CLAIMS ON ITS BEHALF! FOR THOSE WHO DO KNOW HOWEVER, HERE ARE THE DETAILS. THE LABELS ARE RED POLYDOR, AND THE CATALOG NUMBER IS 2679 029. THE DEADWAX MATRIX ARE: 2679029 A (RECORD ONE, SIDE ONE); 2679029 B (RECORD ONE, SIDE TWO); 2679029 C (RECORD TWO, SIDE ONE); 2679029 D (RECORD TWO, SIDE TWO). ALL HAND SCRIBED (NOT STAMPED). IT COMES WITH THE HIGHLY COLLECTABLE NON-LAMINATED 'NUDE' GATEFOLD SLEEVE. IF THERE ARE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TEXT DETAILS/LOGOS, ETC., ON LABELS OR SLEEVE, PLEASE ASK!
THIS IS FAR FROM A PRISTINE COPY OF 'ELECTRIC LADYLAND', BUT DESPITE IT'S OBVIOUS BLEMISHES IT'S STILL VERY ACCEPTABLE AND COLLECTABLE. OVERALL, THE VINYL PLAYS WELL AND SOUNDS GREAT, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A COUPLE OF TRACKS. PLEASE READ THE DETAILED GRADING INFO BELOW, AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL, PLEASE ASK!
THE CONDITION OF ALL 4 SIDES OF VINYL VARIES, SO I'LL TREAT EACH ONE SEPARATELY. RECORD ONE, SIDE ONE: NICE GLOSS, WITH VERY LITTLE MARKING. PLAYS & SOUNDS GREAT. RECORD ONE, SIDE TWO: NICE GLOSS WITH VERY LITTLE MARKING. PLAYS & SOUNDS GREAT. RECORD TWO, SIDE ONE: NICE GLOSS, BUT WITH SOME SCUFFS & HAIRLINES, AND 3 OBVIOUS SCRATCHES (ACROSS THE FIRST TRACK). AS A RESULT, TRACK ONE HAS REPETITIVE CLICKING (ALTHOUGH SOME OF IT IS FAIRLY FAINT). THE REST OF THIS SIDE PLAYS & SOUNDS GREAT. RECORD TWO, SIDE TWO: NICE GLOSS, BUT WITH SOME OBVIOUS SCUFFS & HAIRLINES. TRACK ONE HAS A SLIGHT SKIP RIGHT AT THE END. TRACK THREE HAS A 'POP' AT THE START, AND A TOUCH OF LIGHT BACKGROUND NOISE IN PLACES. THE REST OF THIS SIDE PLAYS & SOUNDS GREAT. THE LABELS ARE ALL BRIGHT & CRISP, AND UNMARKED. THE GATEFOLD SLEEVE IS AS SOLID AS A ROCK, ALTHOUGH IT IS SHOWING SIGNS OF AGE. THERE IS MODERATE EDGEWEAR ON THE BOTTOM, WITH LESS ON THE TOP. THE SPINE IS WELL DEFINED WITH CLEAR TEXT. THE OPENING EDGES STILL SHARP. THE OUTSIDE BACK HAS A COUPLE OF OBVIOUS VERTICAL CREASES DOWN THE LEFT SIDE, AS WELL AS A COUPLE OF SMALL SCRATCHES. THE INSIDE CENTRE SPREAD ALSO HAS SOME CREASING. BOTH FRONT AND BACK SURFACES HAVE VERY LITTLE SIGNS OF RINGWEAR, BUT A LITTLE LIGHT RIM IMPRESSION IS PRESENT. THERE ARE NO STICKERS, STICKER STAINS, WRITING, SPLITS OR TEARS ANYWHERE ON SLEEVE OR LABELS.

GRADING:
Albums are graded as per UK Record Collector Magazine published standards. Mint/Excellent/Very Good/Good/Fair, and so on. (+) or, (-) indicates any variation. I don't list albums that have major faults (skipping/sticking, etc) unless they are so rare/collectable that the condition is of secondary importance. I always grade down if there's any doubt. Grading is done by a combination of playing and visual inspection, but ALL albums are played through for grading ('MINT'/'SEALED' copies excepted), because in my opinion, it's the ONLY way to grade accurately, and ensure that you're getting what you're paying for. Any obvious blemish and/or intrusive surface noise is noted.
Abbreviations & Terms Used. ccs: cut corner on sleeve. cw: corner wear/damage. dhl: drill hole on label. dhs: drill hole on sleeve. scs: saw cut in sleeve. sol: sticker on label. sos: sticker on sleeve. srl: sticker/tape residue on label. srs: sticker/tape residue on sleeve. tol: tear on label. tos: tear on sleeve. wol: writing on label. wos: writing on sleeve. spl: seam or spine split on sleeve. rw: ring wear. stl: stain on label. sts: stain on sleeve. scuff: superficial mark(s) usually made by sliding record in and out of paper sleeve, and/or light needle drag (usually with little/no effect on sound quality/playability). hairline: a fine needle scratch (may, or may not, result in audible noise). scratch: deeper mark(s) (may, or may not result in crackle, audible 'clicks', or even sticks & skips). misty: vinyl has a cloudy appearance (blushing) which doesn't affect sound/playability. crackle: underlying background noise (may, or may not, be intrusive). pop: faint, or loud click (caused by wear/scratch/hairline, etc.). ticking: repetitive clicks heard throughout a portion(s) of the track (can be faint, or loud). spindles: track marks on label around centre hole, caused by contact with the turntable spindle. ringwear: visible circular wear on sleeve caused over time by contact with the outer rim (ring) of the label, and/or outer rim of the vinyl (can be light/moderate/heavy).
All albums are cleaned prior to grading, and receive a final check-over before packing. In my listings the photograph displayed is of the actual album you are bidding for, and therefore forms part of the description.
Please read all descriptions/gradings carefully, and ask any questions you may still have, BEFORE bidding. Thanks.
TERMS & CONDITIONS - PLEASE READ:
CONTACT within 2 DAYS (message me, or complete eBay Checkout) and PAYMENT within 7 DAYS. Failure to make payment within the specified time (unless previous arrangements have been agreed to), will result in the item being withdrawn - Non-payers and time-wasters will be reported to eBay, and will receive a non-payer strike against their name - guaranteed. So....IF YOU DON'T INTEND TO PAY, THEN DON'T BID - it really is that simple!
*NOTE: anyone who makes an honest mistake when bidding should contact me immediately, and I'll sort it out for you - but please don't wait until the auction is over to let me know - thanks.
Item(s) posted only after payment has been received/cleared. I pack professionally and I am NOT responsible for any loss or damage that may occur in transit. Registered Post and Insurance (Extra Cover) is available to most destinations (at additional cost) if you require extra security.
REFUNDS of the original purchase price (excluding P&P costs) are offered only if the record doesn't match its description, and then only on the safe return of the record in its original condition, within 7 days of receipt (within 14 days for overseas buyers). I do NOT refund for damage/loss sustained in transit, or because someone has changed their mind after the event. All genuine concerns can be sorted out with good, timely communication, so if you believe that you have a problem contact me immediately, and I'll always do my best to help.
FEEDBACK is left by me when the transaction is concluded, i.e., when the buyer has received their record(s), and is happy with the quality of their purchase, and the service they've received. If a buyer isn't happy for some reason, they should contact me before leaving feedback, because if the problem is to do with my grading or service, and is genuine (with the best will in the world, mistakes can happen occasionally), then I'll fix it - guaranteed. My feedback is as important to me, as yours is to you. Where buyers and sellers treat each other fairly, and with commonsense, there's never any problems or issues as far as I can see.
POST & PACKING:
All albums are packed with the vinyl and sleeves separated and housed in individual plastic sleeves. They are then securely wrapped in bubblewrap and packed in a newbox which is sealed and protected with tape. This provides maximum protection at the most cost-effective parcel postal rate. I buy all packing materials and the cost of these is included in my listed rates. I pack all records the way I'd like to receive them, which obviously works (see my Feedback), and I still manage to offer competitive and reasonable P&P rates.
I do NOT charge a 'handling fee', or seek to profit from inflated P&P charges - they are what they are.
I post every working day, Monday to Friday. This means that the vast majority of albums are despatched within 24 hours of payment being received (weekends/public holidays excepted). I doubt that any eBay seller offers a quicker turnaround. HOWEVER, it should be obvious that after I hand over your parcel to Australia Post, I have NO control over how long THEY take to deliver it.
AUSTRALIAN P&P rate shown (AU$10.50) is based on parcels between 500g and 1kg (Double Albums) within N.S.W. Rates for other states are as follows: AU$13.00 (Victoria & South Australia), AU$13.50 (Queensland), AU$14.00 (Tasmania) and AU$14.50 (Western Australia/Northern Territory). Please note that these are maximum rates, and may be slightly less depending on your actual postcode (to be confirmed at time of invoicing).
I AM HAPPY TO COMBINE MULTIPLE PURCHASES IN THE SAME 7 DAY PERIOD to save on post & packing, but please let me know that you're bidding on other items of mine! Registered Post is available (in Australia only) for an additional AU$2.75, and is COMPULSORY on all purchases valued at AU$50.00 (including shipping costs) or more.
INTERNATIONAL P&P rates are AU$28.50 for Zone D destinations (UK/Europe/Africa/South America, etc.), AU$23.50 for Zone C destinations (USA/Canada/Middle East, etc.), AU$20.50 for Zone B destinations (Japan/China/Pacific Islands, etc.), and AU$17.00 for Zone A destinations (New Zealand), for double albums (parcels under 750g).
Insurance (Extra Cover) is available to many (but not all) overseas destinations for an additional cost of AU$8.45 (includes up to AU$100 cover) - if you'd like to insure your parcel, please email me for details/costs/availability. Insurance is strongly recommended where available, and is COMPULSORY on all purchases valued at AU$50.00 (including shipping costs) or more. Your specific postage cost will be confirmed at close of auction, or you can request a quote beforehand - but please don't wait until the last day to ask, as I may not be able to respond in time.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Import duties, taxes & charges which may be imposed by your country's customs office are NOT included in the item price or shipping costs. These charges (should they apply) are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs may be, prior to bidding/buying.
Post and packing charges are NOT NEGOTIABLE, and are subject to change as advised by Australia Post from time to time.
All records will be posted - strictly NO pickups or meetings under any circumstances, at any time. No exceptions.
PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Australian bidders - I prefer payment by Direct Deposit into my bank account, or Australia Post Money Order, but PayPal is also fine (NO personal/bank cheques, or cash in the post). If you are paying by Direct Deposit, please include your eBay id, or the last 4 digits of the Item Number, so that your payment can be identified quickly. Also be aware that that DD payments can take up to 3 to 4 days after you've made the deposit, before the payment appears in my account.
International bidders - PayPal is the ONLY payment option offered. NO foreign cheques, imo's, wire transfers, or foreign currency will be accepted under any circumstances. No exceptions.
I will invoice winning bidders through the eBay system within 24 hours of auction close (much sooner in most cases). Please do NOT pay before receiving my invoice. Please use eBay Checkout when making your payment - you will find all the information you need there, and it helps keep me informed. Thanks.
Please bid ONLY if you have READ, and AGREE with these terms.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BIDDING, AND THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST!
