JIMI HENDRIX: Electric Ladyland, UK Track 1968 'White text' 1st pressing in super conditon!
VERY EARLY A//1, B//1, A//1 B//1 matrixes, with the usual partially corected matrix lines, as present on all 1st pressings.
Has the controversial album cover featuring naked women that was quickly banned. Even more rare as this item has the sought after black and white "Track Record" label not the later orange Polydor one!
Many believe that the early Blue Text copies were the first printed, however, alot of people have claimed that pre-release 'white text' copies existed first, which now seems to be an accepted fact (see discogs.com) given the 'proof' of a newspaper article showing a record shop room decorated with White text covers around the time of release. Considering the very early matrix numbers of this item, there is a huge probability that this is one of those FIRST released 'White Text' pressings!
Background...
Electric Ladyland is the third and final studio album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the final studio album released before Hendrix's death in 1970. A double album, it was the only record from the Experience produced by Hendrix. The band's most commercially successful release and its only number one album, it was released by Reprise Records in the United States on October 16, 1968, and by Track Records in the UK nine days later. By mid-November, it had reached number one on the U.S. charts, spending two weeks there. In the UK it peaked at number six, where it spent 12 weeks on the chart
All 4 vinyl discs are in great condition for age, all have a lovely glossy sheen and sit completely flat without any warping. There is discolouration around spindle holes. Side A has normal surface wear and one tiny deeper mark. Side B has normal surface wear with one more noticeable hairline (nothing feelable). Side C is the same as above with only one non feelable hairline and side D has only surface wear. Amazing considering its age!
The much sought after outer cover is in v.good + condition with age related wear /discolouration to the corners.
Taking all into consideration, an invaluable and RARE piece to add to your collection!!!
