Smash Hits is the first compilation album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was released in 1968 in the UK and the following year in the United States. Containing nothing but the band's biggest successes, both editions of the albums have proven to be long and popular sellers.
This UK version first appeared in April 1968, only four months after the band's second studio album, Axis: Bold as Love, and while they were working on their third.
Containing their first four UK singles (and their respective B-sides) in addition to four standout tracks from their LP Are You Experienced, Smash Hits became exactly that - a #5 album in the UK and one that had a long chart life.
It also marked the first appearance on album of "Burning of the Midnight Lamp", five months ahead of its placement on Electric Ladyland

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN, BRIGHT and UNMARKED with just a couple of spindle marks (these are made all the more prominent on these black track labels)
VINYL Visual: The surfaces still retain their original DEEP, GLOSSY sheen and have just a few light marks - these marks have no major audio consequence and the LP plays extremely well throughout
VINYL Audio: SENSATIONAL AUDIO DELIVERY - CRYSTAL CLEAR, RICH, DEEP SOUND. The cut is surprisingly quiet (especially for Track), probably something to do with enhancing these Mono recordings into Stereo so I really cranked up the volume when grading this copy. At a loud volume there is some intermittent clicking present (nothing too major) and some surface noise on the lead-ins and between some (not all) of the tracks (again, nothing major). There are NO prolonged scratches, NO sticks or jumps and the LP provides an extremely pleasurable listening experience from start to finish - Very strictly graded as VERY GOOD++ still, in my opinion, a very nice copy indeed and one I could quite happily live with
SLEEVE: I would also describe the sleeve as in at least VERY GOOD++ condition. The front laminate has a beautiful DEEP GLOSS with some light record impression and corner creasing. The unlaminated back is very CLEAN with NO marks or unwanted writing and the spine displays all text SHARP and CLEAR
