Mint in Original Shrink-Wrap!
A Beauty of a record -- from my private collection.
I bought this soon after the records's original release because I knew I would one day wear out my "playing" copy. The cover does not have the "gold record award" seal of later original Capitol pressings. It's in immaculate shape. In the picture you can see the ripples in the shrink-wrap shining in the light along the edges. The mark you see in Hendrix's hair are remnants of the original price sticker. This early Capitol Records pressing is the Real Deal.
When this record was released in April, 1970, it marked Hendrix's move from psychedelic to soulful. Teaming up with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox, Hendrix eschewed the theatrics and got down to business playing guitar. At first an anomaly, Band Of Gypsys proved to be a subversive new beginning, different from his direction with the Experience, one that not only showed his R&B roots, but forged ahead lyrically in Hendrix's message to his audience. With so many Hendrix titles available today, it's important to remember the guitarist only approved four albums worth of material in his lifetime, this one, Band of Gypsys, and Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold As Love and Electric Ladyland. All four are milestones in the evolution of rock music.
This pressing includes the track listing with the original song titles! Two of the song titles were changed on later pressings after Hendrix died.
ENVIRONMENT: This item has been stored in a smoke-free and pet-free home under climate-controlled conditions since I first purchased or received it.
