From my personal collection.......highly coveted original mono first-pressing of the final album (of just 2 solo LP's) from one of the great 'lost' artists of 1960's jazz.
The little-known but absolutely brilliant jazz saxophonist Jimmy Woods was an explorative altoist who essentially vanished from the musical scene following this superb recording on Lester Koenig's Contemporary Records.
Recorded in March 1963 at Contemporary's studio in Los Angeles, "Conflict" is filled with passionate, penetrating improvisations, ....aggressive yet cerebral and disciplined wildness. A Great jazz album with an all-star cast of musicians, including trumpeter Carmell Jones, tenor saxophonist Harold Land, pianist Andrew Hill, bassist George Tucker, and some outstanding drumming from (arguably) the world's greatest-ever rhythmic drummer, Elvin Jones.
