This is the 10-inch, first edition, 1955, "RVG"-etched, Deep Groove, Laminated Frame Cover, Flat Rim, "P"-pressing of JAY JAY JOHHNSON's "The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson Vol. 3" on the "767 Lexington Ave" labels of Blue Note BLP 5070. Musicians include J.J. Johnson, Hank Mobley, Horace Silver, Paul Chambers, Kenny Clarke.
VINYL plays with consistent low level surface noise throughout. Some areas totally quiet. Some pops and ticks. Surface noise most noticeable in ballads. But Instruments are very clear, clean, dynamic. Very good vinyl gloss. Very few hairline marks, none feelable. No distortion. No groovewear. No warps. Solid gloss both sides. The "767 Lexington Ave" labels are very clean with minor spindle wear. See photos.
The LAMINATED FRAME COVER is in good condition, somewhat bowed and discolored with time. Indention of pencil or similar instrument lines. Corners worn. Top seam solid with cracking. Spine split top 2 inches and bottom 1 inch. Bottom seam split at both ends. Lower left corner cover 2" wrinkle. Back jacket is in overall fine shape, with some fading and discoloration. This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
