J.J. JOHNSON & KAI WINDING – KAI AND JAY JAY – PRESTIGE 195 – M-/M- - NYC – 10 INCH – MONO
Recorded in New York on December 3, 1954 by Rudy Van Gelder, this Prestige session features J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding on trombone, Dick Katz on piano, Peck Morrison on bass and Al Harewood on drums. SIDE A: RIVIERA; DINNER FOR ONE; HIP BONES and WIND BAG. SIDE B: WE’LL BE TOGETHER AGAIN; DON’T ARGUE; HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON and BAG’S GROOVE. There is an “EAR” on both sides of the blank vinyl and the initials “RVG” on both sides as well. The address on the label is “446 W. 50TH ST., N.Y.C”. There isn’t an address on the record jacket. This is a MONO recording.
I have graded the vinyl and the record jacket as M- for the following reasons. The vinyl is clean on any marks on both sides. There is no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole. The vinyl still retains its original luster. The record jacket is in near mint condition for its age. There are no taped seams. There is some slight discoloration on the liner notes by Ira Gitler.
