Description
More LP’s that have been in boxes for some time. We guarantee all items to be either first or early pressings and not recent re-issues, unless otherwise stated. We tend to under-grade the condition of our records, so Near Mint or Excellent actually means a nice, clean, bright copy with possibly a paper scuff. Very Good is a clean, fresh copy with minimal scuffs and /or light scratches, not likely to affect play. Bid with confidence.
Anyway, email with any questions. Here are some JAZZ and ROCK LPs. Don’t forget to look at our other LP auctions currently running. Thanks for looking and thanks for your bids.
Format: LP
Artist: Joan Baez, Bill Wood and Ted Alevizos.
Title: Veritas Records Presents Folksingers Round Harvard Square.
Label: Veritas XTV 66205 (?). There is no record number assigned to the cover although it is supposed to be a limited edition numbered series Veritas Vol 1, No. 1. Recorded in 1959 and issued in 1960.
Cover condition and description: VG+++ some light cover wear and old price in pencil on rear.
LP condition and description: Near Mint. A bright clean copy with possibly a small surface scuff from being removed from the sleeve.
Additional description: This rare first commercial recording by Joan Baez was recorded in May, 1959 in Boston, Mass. and released in a limited edition by Veritas Records of Copley Square, Boston in early 1960, after her appearance at Newport but before her Vanguard LP. The entire first side features Joan Baez, the first six songs by her followed by three duets with Bill Wood.
Tracks include:
On The Banks of the Ohio
O What a Beautiful City
Sail Away Ladies
Black is the Color
Lowlands
What You Gonna Call Your Pretty Baby
plus three more with Bill Wood.
Keep in mind that this is a very important recording as it is Joan's first commercial appearance on vinyl, although she recorded an unreleaqsed album shortly before this. The Vanguard recordings did not appear until the following year. This captures Joan at age 19 in her first folk environs around the Harvard Square area in Boston. Great stuff for Baez fans. Where are you going to find another in this condition?
