JODY GRIND - ONE STEP ON
A very nice condition copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1969 "under the radar" UK 1st press rock/psych gem, on the Transatlantic record label, STEREO, TRA 210
The dead wax matrix numbers are :
Side A TRA 210 A - 2 G with stampers "1" and "R" at 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively
Side B TRA 210 B - 1 G with stampers "1" and "G" at 9 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively
The appearance and overall condition of the flat and nicely weighted vinyl is truly excellent plus (EX+). Both sides have retained an impressive jet black lacquered sheen and in normal daylight show no sign of wear and tear - a real "gleamer", in fact. Under a very bright light, and with close scrutiny, it is just possible to detect the odd surface only and superficial hairline along with just a few very, very faint small scuff marks on each side of the vinyl - even under a bright light you will need to look very hard and all are completely non-intrusive in terms of both appearance and sound quality (which is terrific throughout). This record has obviously been sparingly played and it is hard to believe that this 51 year antiquity is in such fantastic condition as this...there cannot be many better!
The labels are excellent plus (EX+). Lovely smooth textured white background with purple and black text labels, the only blemish being the number "08" lightly written in biro on the side 1 label, and if you look closely under a bright light you may just be able to detect a couple of very faint, and small, spindle trails on the side 2 label. Apart from that, perfect!
The front and back laminated MacNeill Press outer sleeve is a solid very good (VG). Each edge remains firm with the top edges having no scuffing apart from a 1cm scuff adjacent to the top right corner, the front bottom edge also has no scuffing but the reverse side bottom edge has a 2cm scuff in the middle and x4 small but clearly noticeable scuff marks towards the bottom right corner; there is some mild laminate bubbling on the bottom half of the front side and x7 1-2cm horizontal laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine. The spine itself remains firm with all writing nicely intact though there are a series of small nicks/scuffs towards the top of the spine (see photo), and the corners remain nicely defined right angles with minimal rubbing on each. Apart from x7 very light (and not obvious at all) 1-2cm horizontal laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine the reverse side is in great shape with all colours, photos and text on both front and reverse sides remaining rich and vibrant with excellent definition. The inside of the gatefold is near perfect with fantastic art work and all text perfectly intact with no unwanted writing or doodles. The opening edges also remain firm with no fraying. Upon reflection perhaps I should grade the overall condition of the outer sleeve as very good plus (VG+).
Finally, the quality of the audio is excellent plus (EX+)...superb, in fact. Fantastic tone and clarity throughout, even at higher volume and on higher frequencies. No skips, jumps, repeats, sticks and no background crackle/interference. No clicks either apart from x3 mild background clicks along with 10 seconds of mild background crackle during a quiet phase about 2 minutes into track 1, side 1 - infuriatingly I have checked and double checked and checked again, each time under a bright light, and can find no reason for this at all...I'm assuming a particle of dust in the grooves resulting from decades of storage. Clearly this record has been played only sparingly. Rock, prog rock, psych...call it what you like - it's all here along with some scorching guitar and organ licks throughout and a blistering version of the Stones' Paint It Black.
The tracks are :
Side 1 :
1. ONE STEP ON
(a) In My Mind
(b) Nothing
(c) Interaction
(d) Paint It Black
Side B :
1. Little Message
2. Night Today
3. U.S.A.
4. Rock'n Roll Man
Comes with original plain white poly-lined die-cut inner sleeve with no tears, rips or seam splits, and barely any creasing either.. NOTE that I always place the vinyl into a new plain white inner sleeve for shipping purposes in order to protect the original.
In summary a solid very good plus condition copy (with truly excellent plus stereo sound quality) of this increasingly sought after 1969 "under the radar" prog rock gem - a worthy addition to any serious vinyl collection and only continuing to increase in value.
If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting vinyl for more than 49 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but during the past 30 years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boot sales, auctions, and even through putting up a "vinyl wanted" notice in my wife's shop! I am now retired and take great delight in being able to spend more time scouring the country and attending boot sales and auctions in the hope of unearthing more vinyl gems...I am 64 years of age now and am still discovering bands and music of the 60's and 70's that I have never come across before. Wonderful! Richard
My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no quibble" refund policy.
On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.
For this item postage & packaging will be UK £4.00, Royal Mail 1st class signed for;
Continental Europe £10, and Rest of the World £14 respectively, Royal Mail 1st class international Airmail tracked and signed for
I DO discount post & packaging costs for multiple purchases. I do NOT profit from postage.
Good luck with your bidding!
NOTE : My vinyl descriptions comply with the official Record Collector vinyl grading guidelines :

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.
Very Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Bad
The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
