Description

JOE HENDERSON - MODE FOR JOE

Great condition copy of this 1965 highly collectable US Blue Note 1st press rarity (one of the rarer Blue Note originals)

Year/Label : 1966 US BLUE NOTE
Label number : BLP 4227
Matrix numbers :  BNLP-4227.A,  BNLP-4227.B (hand etched), with "VAN GELDER" stamped on both sides
Gleaming with jet black sheen excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl, completely flat and virtually unmarked. If you look really closely under a bright light you may just be able to detect one or two small and extremely faint scuff marks...obviously purely superficial. Clearly, this record has been only very sparingly played. Each label is excellent plus with the only blemish being a single small and extremely faint spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole on the side 1 label. Note the "NEW YORK USA" text on each label, synonymous with Blue Note 1st pressings of this record.  Excellent (EX) condition and eminently presentable original thick cardboard outer sleeve with all of the colours, art work, photos and text remaining impressively intact. Each edge remains firm with just a few very thin and light scuff marks on the bottom edge. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle though there is a little compression on the bottom right corner but very minimal rubbing on each. There is no fraying on either of the opening edges. The spine remains rigid with all spine text nicely intact though there are a few "nicks" and just a little crinkling towards the top of the spine - trivial but noticeable if you look for it. The reverse side is equally impressive with just a few very light and small age/storage/handling marks and just a little mild surface creasing of the paste on towards the top right corner - each of these blemishes is very trivial but I have tried to show them in my photos so please do take a look.. Note the "43 West 61st St., New York, N.Y. 10023" text at the bottom of the reverse side of the outer sleeve - another very 1st press identifier.  Superb, excellent plus (EX+) MONO audio quality with no skips,  jumps, repeats, sticks, interference or distortion. I did notice two very, very light background clicks towards the end of A3 which I think (after viewing the grooves through a magnifying glass) is down to a speck of dust stuck in the grooves - a professional clean should remedy this though you will have to listen very carefully to spot these two low level clicks in the first place! There are no other clicks at all and background crackle is non-existent with fabulous tone and crystal clear audio quality throughout - superb! Every track remains a great listen with legendary musicians Lee Morgan (trumpet), Curtis Fuller (trombone), Joe Henderson (tenor sax), Bobbie Hutcherson (vibes), Cedar Walton (piano), Ron Carter (bass)and Joe Chambers (drums) each at the very top of their game. Comes with original and impressive condition "27 YEARS BLUE NOTE" inner sleeve, with no seam splits, tears or edge fraying - just some mild creasing towards the corners.   A truly excellent condition copy of this Blue Note rarity with the MONO audio quality simply sublime!
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £9 using Royal Mail special delivery;

for continental Europe £13 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £19 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
