JOEY VINE: Down And Out ORIGINAL UK Immediate IM 017.
Why did every 1965 folk singer want to sound like Bob Dylan? After all, Dylan's voice is almost awful. Joey Vine entertains us with a re-written version of Dylan's "She Belongs To Me". "The Out of Towner", again with the Dylanesque voice....Vine (or under his real name Joey Levine) would later find fame and fortune as the writer of Yummy, Yummy, Yummy and countless others and became the voice of The Ohio Express, The 1910 Fruitgum Company, The Third Rail and countless others as well. He was the voice of the bubblegum generation at a time when everyone took themselves too seriously. These two tracks were originally released in the US on Hercules Records. If you grew up in the 60's or early '70's you'd hear Joey Vine's (or Joey Levine) voice every day on the radio singing countless songs though no one knew his name or who he was.
Record was played on both sides from start to finish - no skips, no jumps. Very small writing on Side A of label and tape residue on Side B. Light marks - nothing deep.
I am one of the very few people in the world that owns a complete UK 45/EP/LP collection of Immediate. I also have a complete US collection and hundreds of European Immediate pressings.
I started collecting the label in 1967and completed it in 2000. As difficult as it is to part with these treasures your well placed bids will help me free them to a good home.
