The Hungarian violinist, Johanna, Martzy (26 October 1924 - 13 August 1979), received instruction from Jenö Hubay before entering the Budapest Academy of Music at age 10. She made her debut in Budapest when she was 13, and graduated from the Academy in 1942. After winning 1st prize in the Geneva Competition in 1947, she toured widely; first played in England in 1953 and in the USA in 1957. She acquired a fille reputation as a soloist and chamber music artist.
Not the greatest copy of this record you will come across but it is the original highly sought after UK mono Columbia 1st press with the blue and gold labels. It’s definitely far too good to throw out and although it plays with background crackle and clicks/pops here and there, it’s still a great listen!!! It would probably benefit from a professional clean! Would best be used as a collection filler until a better copy turns up! See description below.

Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)

Vinyl side 1: good (has quite a few noticeable scratches and scrapes and plays with background crackle and clicks/pops here and there but nothing that really spoils your enjoyment of the music, it’s still a great listen, plays with no jumps or sticks).
Vinyl side 2: good (has quite a few noticeable scratches and scrapes and plays with background crackle and clicks/pops here and there but nothing that really spoils your enjoyment of the music, it’s still a great listen, plays with no jumps or sticks).
Cover (fully laminated, scalloped double flip-back): very good (bit of corner, edge and spine wear, a few small creases mainly arount the edges, small tear on front near bottom of opening edge, small bit of laminate lift at opening edge).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy on return of the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
