GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a turntable Rega Planar 3 with a moving magnet cartridge Grado Statement 1. I listen EPs and singles 45  rpm. on a turntable Thorens TD 166 BC with a MM cartridge Goldring 1006. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : composizioni e direzione musicale di John Barry sia per i John Barry Seven che per la John Barry Orchestra. Prima colonna sonora Britannica ad essere incisa su un LP da 12 pollici. Sicuramente un ottimo esordio: non esito a definire questo album come un preziosissimo gioiello musicale sia per il tanto buon rock'n'roll di gusto Europeo con alcune belle vene jazzistiche sia per l'indiscutibile bravura interpretativa dei musicisti. In particolare risalto il suono delle chitarre vicinissimo a quello "immortale" delle Fender Stratocaster degli Shadows così come le esecuzioni del batterista e della sezione fiati. Buon ultimo il pianista Leslie (Les) Reed con le sue note jazz. John Barry in alcuni brevi passaggi anticipa il famoso tema di James Bond..... davvero un grandissimo compositore e musicista. Molto buone le tre canzoni rock'n'roll eseguite da Adam Faith. Fra i brani : " Main Title - Beat Girl " dal ritmo scatenato con chitarre martellanti e grande "drumming", " Time Out "  con la buona vena jazz di un assolo del flauto, " Lindon Home Rock ", suoni eccitanti di tromba e sassofono e solida presenza delle chitarre, " The Sharks " delicatamente jazzeggiante con sezione fiati, chitarra e batteria in prima fila. Ed ancora " The City 2000 A.D. " dai suoni "sporchi" di tromba e sassofono ben riflettenti un'atmosfera dal vuoto irreale, " The Cave - Beat Girl - Kids Stuff " rock'n'roll frenetico dai suoni senza respiro di chitarra e sax, " Car Chase - Night Chase " con grandi fraseggi del batterista perfettamente assistito da una strepitosa chitarra ed un'ottima tromba, " Blondie's Strip ", atmosfere sonore da locale notturno con un buon pianoforte dalla vena jazz.

Notes : music composed and conducted by John Barry for both The John Barry Seven or The John Barry Orchestra. It was the first British soundtrack to be released on LP from 12 inches. Definitely a great debut : I don't hesitate to define this album as a very precious musical gem both for the superb rock'n'roll from the European taste with some nice jazz vein and the undisputable interpretative skill of the musicians. In particular, the guitars very close to the "immortal" sound of the Shadows’s Fender Stratocaster as well as the performances of the drummer and the brass section stand out. Last but not least the pianist Leslie (Les) Reed with his jazz chords. John Barry in a few short passages anticipates the famous James Bond theme ..... really a greatest composer and musician. Three outstanding rock'n'roll songs are performed by Adam Faith.  Among the tracks: " Main Title - Beat Girl " from hectic pace with pounding guitars and great drumming, " Time Out " with the good jazzy mood of solo flute, " Lindon Home Rock ", featuring wild sounds from trumpet and sax and solid presence of guitars, " The Sharks ", a slightly jazzy theme with brass section, guitar and drums in the foreground. And again, " The City 2000 AD " from the "dirty" sounds by trumpet and sax well reflecting an atmosphere from unreal void, " The Cave - Beat Girl - Kids Stuff " characterized by frantic rock'n'roll with breathless sonorities of guitar and sax , " Car Chase - Night Chase " from the great drumming perfectly supported by an amazing guitar and an excellent trumpet, " Blondie's Strip " featuring atmospheres from night club with a good jazz piano.
