Description

Up for auction is a beautiful copy of the John Coltrane album "A Love Supreme" released on Impulse Records (A-77) in 1965.  This is a guaranteed original first MONO pressing with VanGelder stamped in the dead-wax.  Comes with original high-gloss gatefold cover and original Impulse factory inner sleeve.  Cover is in superb shape, looks like it was just removed fresh from the original factory shrink wrap.  No marks on it to speak of.  Original high gloss lamination cover is completely intact, no tears, no separations, no lifting.  Corners are sharp, no bumping.  Seams are strong and intact, no splitting.  Back cover open edge shows one very tiny chip near top, not worth mentioning really.  Cover is clean inside gatefold, bone-white.  Spine is not creased in anyway, and I doubt it it is ever been opened completely--it still cracks when you start opening it.  I have never seen a cleaner, nicer copy of this cover--you won't improve on this one.  I'd grade this cover Near Mint (NM), my highest grade. The vinyl is also in great shape, very few signs of previous handling or play.  Retains its original high gloss shine.  No obvious scratches or scuffs.  If anything, some very faint superficial signs of taking record out paper inner sleeve for inspection.  No marks around spindle holes.  Labels are bright, though Side A does have a small check mark on it.  Plays clean and clear.  I bought this record years ago from Fred Cohen at the Jazz Record Center in New York City.  He graded the vinyl Near Mint, and nothing has changed since then.  A very clean, attractive, and collectible copy. 100% guaranteed, no risk buying.  An exceptionally nice copy.
