John Coltrane
A Love Supreme

© ABC/Impulse Records • AS-77 • Stereo

Recorded at Van Gelder Studios, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, and The Festival Mondial Du Jazz Antibes, Juan-Les-Pins, France, between Dec. 1964 & July 1965, this 33-minute album is the essential example of the genius of tenor saxophonist John Coltrane. This eminently accessible work bridges the gap between music and spirituality, between art and life.

Backed impeccably by Archie Shepp (tenor saxophone); McCoy Tyner (piano); Jimmy Garrison & Art Davis (bass); and Elvin Jones (drums), Coltrane brings together all of his turbulent elements into a cohesive paean to spirituality, one which is fully appreciable by the uninitiated.

Side One: Side Two: Part I -- Acknowledgement Part III -- Pursuance Part II -- Resolution Part IV -- Psalm

Shipping in the U.S. and Canada is $3.50. International shipping is $15.00. Note: I will NOT be responsible for items lost or damaged in the mail.

PayPal accepted.

This used vinyl LP has been played infrequently and has been well-maintained. Includes the original inner sleeve. The gatefold has liner notes and a poem by John Coltrane as well as a terrific sketch of the artist by Victor Kalin. The record itself has a labeling error: There are two Side A's. (The image shown is my original scan of the item.) No barcode.

This is not a cut-out or a record-club release. It is the original issue -- and you finicky perfectionists out there who can't stand a scuff or an occasional pop or two might as well move on and hold out for a still-sealed version (if you can ever find one). This record, from my own collection, was meant to be played -- not worshipped!

Enjoy the auction -- and good luck!
