Description

This is an ORIGINAL 1967-1968 IMPULSE RECORDS US STEREO PRESSING of the 1963 LP titled 'Ballads' from legendary sax man John Coltrane.  It is Impulse Records catalog number A-32 as shown on the cover and AS-32 as shown on the labels, thick heavy vinyl pressing.  Labels are orange with black print.  Record comes packaged inside its heavy cardboard laminated gatefold cover in its original ABC-Paramount records family inner sleeve with pictures of other then-current ABC Paramount records family releases.   A 'VAN GELDER' machine stamp appears int he runout areas on both sides, next to a hand etched 'LW'.

 'AS-32 A' & 'AS-32 B' are on center labels and the bottom is; ”ABC RECORDS INC New York NY 10019″ (used in 1967-1968).

Condition of record is a high VG+ with a small amount of light surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play - There is a little bit of very light surface noise during the first 20 seconds or so on side 2.  Condition of cover is also VG+ with some small and light brown stains on the white areas of the inside of the gatefold cover, a little wear along the edges, and with the lamination beginning to peel on a couple of very small areas along the edges of the front cover.  ABC-Paramount family records inner sleeve has some creases and wrinkles and a couple of very small tears in its top edge.
This early pressing would be a nice addition to any John Coltrane or progressive jazz record collection!
