Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
A 1963 US 1st Mono repress copy Duke Ellington & John Coltrane, on the Impulse 4 Pillar label, A-30. VAN GELDER is stamped in the run out grooves. The label has on both sides A product of ABC-Paramount Records, Inc
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl is spotlessly clean with good glossy lustre and some trace hairlines visible to both sided but no feelable damage. Clean labels & spindle holes. Graded VG+ but plays closer to EX.
Playback reveals a warm, dense & smooth sound, clear and tight, with no jumping or sticking - it plays through beautifully.
The gatefold sleeve is solid and smooth with light wear to edges, corner rubbing, & some wear to the rear near the spine ( see photos). Overall a strong VG-VG+ with no writing, splits, tape or tears.
The vinyl has been decanted into a brand new poly inner sleeve.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
