JOHN COLTRANE - IMPRESSIONS
An eminently presentable and overall truly excellent condition copy of this 1963 US 1st press jazz rarity with brilliant quality MONO playback

Matrix numbers : A-42-A / A-42-B and with "VAN GELDER" stamped onto each side
1963 John Coltrane gem on cherished US IMPULSE record label : excellent (EX) condition vinyl, thick, weighty, completely flat, with earliest A/B and "VAN GELDER" stamped matrices and difficult to detect any blemishes in normal daylight - with closer inspection under a bright light just a few wispy hairlines and very light scuff marks can be identified...all non-feelable, very minor, surface only, purely superficial and no impacting upon the terrific MONO sound quality at all. Excellent (EX) condition labels with not even the trace of any spindle trails at all - the only blemish being some very minor "bubbling" on the side 2 label (see photos). Very good plus (VG+) condition glossy thick cardboard outer gatefold sleeve with firm unscuffed edges, near perfectly defined right angled corners with barely any rubbing, no creasing, no opening edge fraying or feathering, and all colours/art work/text remain in great condition with near perfect definition still. The only blemish of note is within the interior of the gatefold where there is some noticeable tearing/peeling towards each of the bottom edges (see photos)...I think caused by some sort of sticky substance placed or spilt onto one of the edges ad then "sticking" to the opposite edge when the gatefold/record was stored in an upright position over a period of time. Excellent plus (EX+) MONO audio quality with no skips, repeats, clicks, interference, distortion, interference, or background crackle - simply great tone with crystal clear MONO audio quality throughout, with John Coltrane and a host of other jazz greats (Eric Dolphy, McCoy Tiner, and Elvin Jones to name but three) on top form...a great listen! Comes complete with original ABC/Paramount Records advertising inner sleeve with no tears, barely any discolouration, and just a single mild corner crease and 4cm seam split in the middle of the bottom edge. A true early 60's jazz gem, with these US 1st press recordings now highly sought after & becoming very hard to find.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
