JOHN COLTRANE – SOULTRANE - PR 7142 – 203 SO. WASHINGTON AVE. – EX/M- - RVG – DG - MONO
Recorded on February 7, 1958 at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio, this Prestige session features John Coltrane on tenor, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Art Taylor on drums. SIDE A: GOOD BAIT and I WANT TO TALK ABOUT YOU. SIDE B: YOU SAY YOU CARE; THEME FOR ERNIE and RUSSIAN LULLABY. The address on the yellow and black label is 203 South Washington Ave,. Bergenfield, NJ. The same address is on the liner notes. The initials RVG” are stamped in the blank vinyl on both sides of the LP. It comes in its original glassine sleeve. This is a deep groove MONO recording.
I have graded the LP as EX and the record jacket as M- for the following reasons. There are a couple of surface marks on the vinyl on Side B, which does not interfere with play. There is no surface noise on the LP. There is no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole on either side of the LP. This just misses a M- grading. The record jacket is in excellent condition with no sign of wear, not even on the liner notes. If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks.
