John Coltrane Stellar Regions LP Rare/Previously Unreleased Material Long OOP. Rare.
Beautiful copy of this very hard to find LP, originally issued in 1995 by Impulse (IMP-169) as a limited edition pressing. This collects a previously unreleased session (all except for one track, “Offering”, which was included on Expression) recorded at the Van Gelder studios on February 15th 1967 that is only available on vinyl in this edition, which is long OOP. Killer quartet line-up with Coltrane joined by Alice Coltrane on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Rashied Ali on drums, here playing in a tighter, slightly more compositional style than their live outings, with a heady devotional feel that is truly beautiful. Packaged in a gatefold sleeve, the vinyl is Ex+ while the sleeve is Ex with a few creases on the spine. Overall, a stunning audiophile presentation on heavy 180g vinyl.
