Description
Record is MINT minus. Album cover is beautiful. The glue has come away from the bottom fold but that is not significant to the condition of the album. As can be seen from scan there is a small sticker on label with an index reference.
John Francis was originally vocalist in the Newcastle-basedmid-sixties band The Sorrows. When they split in 1965, he fronted his ownoutfit John Francis Collexion, who released one 45. His next venture wasanother Newcastle - based band Magic who put out two 45s at the end of thedecade.
In the early seventies, he embarked on a solo career andenjoyed a Top 30 hit with Play Mumma, Sing Me A Song, which spent twelve weeksin the charts in 1973.
He was also briefly involved in another Newcastle-basedstudio project called Brute Force and His Drum in 1973, with drummer Jim Yonge.
1973 also saw him embark on production work with Sun Finchand Three Floors Down among others. Indeed, during 1973-74 he worked as aproducer at Copperfield Studios. He also toured Europe and upon his returncompered a radio show for several years.
In 1979, he was a member of a high energy, power rock bandJohn J. Francis and Hard Cash with Steve Clews (drms), John Grant (bs) and UlyKechayas (gtr), but they had no recorded output.
Two of his songs have been compiled, Play Mamma on Sizzling70s, Vol. 2 and Simple Ben on the Morning Of The Earth soundtrack.
